Newark, NJ – The 2014 Devils/New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association High School Ice Hockey Championships, presented by Barnabas Health will take place with three games this Sun., Mar. 9 at Prudential Center. This marks the 17th year that the National Hockey League team will host the high school championships, and during that time the number of varsity high school ice hockey programs has increased from 80 to more than 170.
The three games are set as follows: Bridgewater-Raritan vs. Morris Knolls, Public A Championship (1:00 PM); Christian Brothers Academy vs. Morristown-Beard, Non-Public Final (3:00 PM); and Ramsey vs. Morristown, Public B Championship (5:00 PM).
Eighty schools, including 60 Public and 20 in the Non-Public bracket, participated in this year’s tournament. Randolph (Public A), Delbarton School (Non Public), and Chatham (Public B) all entered the tournament as the no. 1 seed in their respective brackets.
Last season, Randolph defeated Bridgewater-Raritan, 4-1, in the Public A School Championship; Chatham defeated Morristown, 3-0, in the Public School B Final; while Delbarton School defeated Don Bosco Prep, 4-0, in the Non-Public School Championship.
Tickets are available at the Prudential Center box office and are priced at $10.00 for adults and $3.00 for students/senior citizens. The box office is open Monday-Friday, 11:00 AM-6:00 PM, and through the second intermission of Devils’ home games.
