The Devils played their first road game of 2015-16. New Jersey is now 15-15-3 in in road-openers all-time.

• New Jersey played a road opener in Washington for the fourth time (1-3-0).

• The Devils closed out their first of 12 sets of back-to-back games. New Jersey won't play another back-to-back set until Nov. 27 vs. Montreal and Nov. 28 at Montreal.

• Washington outshot New Jersey, 27-24.

Player Notes

Keith Kinkaid (22 saves + ENG) made his first start of 2015-16.

Mike Cammalleri posted 1g-1a-2pts and now has points in back-to-back games (1g-2a-3pts).

Adam Henrique and Eric Gelinas (PPG) also scored for the Devils, their first goals of the season.

Gelinas has now recorded 9g-18a-27pts of his career 14g-35a-49pts on the power play.

Jiri Tlusty assisted on Henriques's goal and now has 1g-1a-2pts in his first two games with New Jersey.

Kyle Palmieri assisted on Henrique's tally, his first point as a Devil.

Lee Stempniak assisted on Gelinas' goal and now has points in two straight games (0g-2a-2pts).

Brian O'Neill made his NHL debut, recorded one shot on goal and was +1.

Stefan Matteau and Eric Gelinas also made their season debuts.
