by Staff Writer / Arizona Coyotes
The Western Conference is the home of the Phoenix Coyotes so these are teams that will be very familiar to Coyotes fans. With contenders like the defending Stanley Cup Champion Anaheim Ducks, and the top seeded Detroit Red Wings standing in the way, it will be a brutal climb for any team looking for a berth in the Stanley Cup Finals Host Matt Rosen and Radio Color Analyst Louie DeBrusk have seen each of these teams play the Coyotes at least four times this season so they have a lot to say about how the west will be won!

(1) Red Wings vs. (8) Predators

There will not be a lot of experts picking the upset here, but Nashville has played the Wings tough this year. Can Dan Ellis emerge as a postseason dynamo is net for Nashville, or will the "Forty-Somethings" (Hasek & Chelios) have Hockeytown cruising towards another Stanley Cup?

(2) Sharks vs. (7) Flames

The Sharks have been deadly since they acquired Brian Campbell from Buffalo at the trade deadline. Will he be the missing piece to the puzzle that finally gets this team over the hump? Perennial MVP candidate Jarome Iginla and Dion Phaneuf will try and prove otherwise.

(3) Wild vs. (6) Avalanche

Colorado boasts some familiar names that led them to greatness with Sakic, Forsberg, and Foote, but the x-factor in this series will be young gun Paul Stastny. For the Wild, Marian Gaborik is the catalyst that will try and confirm that Minnesota is truly......"The State of Hockey".

(4) Ducks vs. (5) Stars

This series has the potential to be a dogfight that goes seven games. Dallas has the edge at the center position with Modano, Richards, and Ribeiro, but Ducks boast a defense that cannot be matched with Niedermayer, Pronger, and Schneider.
