Tucson Roadrunners Announce 2016-17 Season Schedule

TUCSON – The Tucson Roadrunners, proud American Hockey League affiliate of the Arizona Coyotes, announced the team’s 2016-17 full season schedule today.

The Roadrunners will play their first season in Tucson this fall and open the AHL schedule on the road on Friday, October 14 at San Diego. Schedule highlights include the home opener on Friday, October 28 vs. San Diego; Thanksgiving week games on Wednesday, November 23 against San Diego and on Saturday, November 26 vs. Stockton; New Year’s Eve against San Antonio at 6:05 pm; St. Patrick’s Day against Bakersfield; April Fool’s Day hosting San Diego for the final regular season home game; and Tucson’s regular season finale on the road at Stockton Saturday, April 15.

Highlighting the team’s partnership with the Coyotes, two games will be played in Glendale at Gila River Arena on February 3 and 4 against the Charlotte Checkers. Start times will be announced at a later date.

Start times for Roadrunners home games this season will be Monday through Saturday at 7:05 pm and Sundays at 4:05 pm. The only exception will be the New Year’s Eve game against San Antonio which will start at 6:05 pm.

2016-17 Roadrunners Schedule Notes:

• Tucson will not see the San Jose Barracuda until January 7 on the road and February 24 at home, but the two teams play each other eight times during the year.

• The Roadrunners play six-of-eight games on the road against Bakersfield and won’t host the Condors until March 17 and 18 to conclude the season series.

• Only eight of Tucson’s games come outside the Pacific Division this season, with four each against the Charlotte Checkers and Manitoba Moose.

• San Diego and Ontario play the Roadrunners 12 times, six each at home and on the road.

For the home portion of the schedule, Friday is the most popular day with 12 games, followed by Saturday (10), Wednesday (6), and Sunday, Monday and Tuesday (2). The Roadrunners will not play any home games on Thursday this season.
