The Boedker Blog: Our Team Confident Heading Into Road Trip

by Mikkel Boedker / Arizona Coyotes

COLUMBUS -- We’ve reached the final week of the regular season and we’re all looking forward to playing the next four games.

We had a good practice on Sunday. We hadn’t played since Friday so it was good to get the legs moving before the long flight to Columbus today. I enjoyed being out there with the guys and working on the details of the game. It was a good way to fine tune our game and make sure we’re ready for this week’s games.

Today we flew from Phoenix to Columbus for a game on Tuesday against the Blue Jackets. It’s an important game for both teams. Like us, they’re trying to clinch a playoff spot this week so we’re expecting a very intense, high-energy game against them.

We’ve lost four games in a row but we’re all still confident we can make it to the playoffs, and we still believe we have the abilities to be a good playoff team. I think everyone will see that in these last four games.

This week’s road trip will be good for us. We have a great group of guys and we’re a very tight group and we feel very comfortable being on the road together. This is our third trip back East within the last month so these long flights are no big deal for us.

It’s a different game when you’re the road team and we always talk about taking the crowd out of the game early. That’s a great way to get momentum and take the energy out of the building. That will be our plan on Tuesday and Thursday in Nashville.

We’re one point behind the Dallas Stars in the standings and a reporter asked me how closely I’ve been following their games. I don’t watch their games but I do follow them on my phone. Hopefully we can hang with them this week and have it all come down to the last game of the season against them on Sunday in our building. That would be an amazing atmosphere, right?

Having said all that, we can’t worry about them winning or losing this week, we must focus on our games. We’ve all embraced where we are and what we have to do. It should be a fun week because the games will get harder and harder, and everybody wants to be the hero and be that guy who helps the team win a big game.

That’s all for now. Thanks for reading and for supporting us all season!
