Yandle, who has six goals and 23 assists through 50 games this season, was the 22nd player selected at Thursday night’s draft of players for the League's showcase game of its elite players.

"I'm a fan of the draft," Yandle said. "I think it's good because you get to play with guys you wouldn't get to play with if they did an East-West (format). It's good because you get to meet different guys and be in the locker room with different guys. But it is a little nerve-racking sitting there waiting for your name to be called."

The other defensemen on Team Alfredsson are: Erik Karlsson, Chris Letang, Shea Weber, Dan Girardi and Alexander Edler.

Team Alfredsson, which is captained by Ottawa Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson, will play Team Chara, which is captained by Boston Bruins captain Zdeno Chara, on Sunday at Scotiabank Place. The game will be broadcast on NBC Sports Network (formerly Versus) at 2 p.m. (Arizona time).

This is Yandle's second consecutive appearance as an NHL All-Star. In 2011, he played for Team Lidstrom. Yandle's 29 points rank seventh in the NHL among defensemen and his 23 assists rank 10th.
