GLENDALE – NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly on Monday reaffirmed that the League stands behind the Coyotes as the team moves into a legal battle with the City of Glendale over the arena lease agreement.

"We're very much behind the Coyotes," Daly said on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM – the team’s flagship radio station. "...We're there to assist and we're there to help. We certainly made our legal team and outside lawyers available to the Coyotes, but this is their lease and a lease they negotiated."
He added, "We remain committed to the Valley because the current ownership (of the Coyotes) is committed to the Valley... We’ve always believed that the Phoenix area … is a good area for hockey where hockey can be successful… This is a market that should be successful for hockey and the National Hockey League... I continue to think there's a confidence in this market that it can embrace this team and it can make it a good franchise going forward."
The League, Daly said, is grateful to the fans for sticking by the Coyotes throughout this process.
"They deserve better than what they are getting right now," Daly said. "…I would say to all Coyotes fans to hang in there and this too shall pass."
