While the Phoenix Coyotes 2005-06 campaign did not conclude with a trip to the Stanley Cup playoffs the Coyotes players and coaches alike, did see reasons to be optimistic in looking ahead to next season. Head Coach Wayne Gretzky is already planning for the future.
"We know we need to grow in different areas, that being said, and there is no question that Curtis (Joseph) had an outstanding year," said Coyotes Head Coach Wayne Gretzky. "With Nagy coming back, we want to add some offensive help that will help take some pressure off guys like (Shane) Doan and (Steven) Reinprecht and guys like (Mike) Comrie.
"I think another area we addressed was in overall team toughness and we addressed it when we acquired Josh (Gratton). He's made us a more physical hockey club and given us more of a presence and has ability to get better as a hockey player. Overall, it is an ongoing process."
