Fiegl is a big, physical player who fits the power forward mold. The Coyotes like his size and the effort with which he plays the game, and are eager for him to further develop his offensive skills at Cornell University starting this fall.
• Fiegl notched two goals and four assists in 45 games for the USNTDP, and helped the U.S. win the IIHF Under-18 world championship in 2014, and the Four Nations U-17 title in 2013.
"It's a huge honor to be drafted by Arizona. I'm so excited for the prospect camp - it's all I've been thinking about since the Draft. I can hardly wait to get down there and skate and show them what I've got." -- Jared Fiegl
"My goal is to get a degree, and hockey-wise it's a perfect fit for me because they play hard and they play fast. They're a big team that plays a physical game so it's a no-brainer for me." -- Jared Fiegl, on heading to Cornell University next season
"Jared is a hard-nosed, two-way player who can really skate. He has been a captain at every level he’s played at and plays a 200-foot game. College hockey will allow his game to grow, and he exemplifies the kind of character we all in college look for in our players and leaders." -- Cornell Head Coach Mike Schafer
The Fun Facts:
• Fiegl is friends with Coyotes prospect Zac Larraza. The two skated together when Fiegl was considering joining Larraza at the University of Denver. "Zac texted me right after the draft and told me I will love it in Arizona and that I will enjoy being part of the Coyotes."
• Away from hockey, Fiegl enjoys camping, golf and playing guitar.
