GLENDALE – With a team-high 19 goals and the franchise record for goals scored freshly in his grasp, Coyotes captain Shane Doan is very much on a roll these days.
The good times continued this weekend when Doan correctly predicted the Denver Broncos would upset the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50 as part of the team’s annual Super Bowl prediction video.
Not only did Doan successfully choose Denver, he also predicted the Broncos would score 24 points, which they did, and that linebacker Von Miller would be named the game’s MVP, which he was.
The only mistake Doan made in the video – which co-starred rookies Anthony Dulcair and Max Domi – was that he predicted Carolina would score 17 points, and the Panthers managed only 10. Nevertheless, three out of four correct predictions isn’t too shabby.
“I think the Broncos have a really good chance,” Doan told ArizonaCoyotes.com, before the game. “They have Peyton (Manning) and an unbelievable defense. I know they’re the underdog, but it’s one game and hopefully they can do it. If they can get off to a quick start and put Carolina behind they’ll be OK. Look at what Atlanta did to the Panthers at the end of the regular season. It’s doable.”
