COYOTES RECALL SPILLER FROM SAN ANTONIO
GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Michael Barnett announced today that the Coyotes have recalled defenseman Matthew Spiller from the San Antonio Rampage, the Coyotes' top minor league affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).
Spiller has had one stint with the Coyotes this season from Jan. 11 to 17, playing in 2 games with the Coyotes during that span. The 22-year-old blueliner has registered 2-6-8 and 98 penalty minutes (PIM) in 42 games with San Antonio this season. Spiller ranks 2nd on the Rampage in PIM and 5th in shots on goal with 72.
The 6-foot-5, 233-pound Spiller played in 51 games with the Coyotes during his first professional season in 2003-04. The Coyotes selected Spiller with their 2nd choice (2nd round, 31st overall) in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
