GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- Phoenix Coyotes President & CEO Anthony LeBlanc announced today that last night's intrasquad scrimmage to benefit the families of the Granite Mountain Hotshots raised a total of $165,198. All of the money raised will be distributed directly to the families of the firefighters that were lost in the Yarnell Hill fire on June 30.
“We are overwhelmed by the outpouring of support we received from Coyotes fans last night,” said LeBlanc. “The game was all about giving back to the community and helping those in need. We have some of the most loyal and dedicated fans in the entire National Hockey League and we can't thank them enough for their incredible support.”
Ticket sales from the game combined with the 50/50 raffle and a player signed jerseys auction generated over $67,599. The Coyotes ownership group IceArizona, LLC matched these efforts by donating an additional $67,599, while the Coyotes players donated $25,000. The Coyotes Alumni Association also contributed $5,000.
The Coyotes next preseason home game is Sept. 27 when the team takes on the San Jose Sharks at Jobing.com Arena. Game time is 7:00 p.m. The Coyotes home and season opener is on Oct. 3 when the Coyotes meet the New York Rangers. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
