Coyotes prospect Michael Stone will continue to earn valuable playoff experience when he and the Calgary Hitmen participate in this year's Memorial Cup tournament. The four-team round-robin tournament begins Friday in Brandon, Manitoba.

Stone, a defenseman/team captain, set career-highs this season with 21 goals, 44 assists and 65 points. In 23 playoff games, he chipped in five goals and 15 assists.

The Coyotes selected Stone in the third round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft with the 69th overall pick. The Winnipeg native stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 207 pounds. He is a right-handed shot who patterns his game after NHL defensemen Eric Brewer and Brian Rafalski.

"They are both reliable defensively with offensive upside," Stone said.

Stone has played four seasons for Calgary, which qualified for the Memorial Cup tournament this season by winning the Western Hockey League championship for the first time since 1999.
