The Coyotes open their 2009-10 preseason schedule tonight with two games against the Los Angeles Kings.

One game wIll be played at Arena at 7 p.m. It can be heard on XTRA 910 AM. The other game will be played at the Staples Center in Los Angeles at 7:30 p.m.

Most of the team's established players will be playing in the home game (see lineup below), but a few bubble players are in the mix too.

Forward Brett MacLean, an American Hockey League All-Star last season who is looking to jump to the NHL, will be playing on the first line with center Matthew Lombardi and right wing Shane Doan.

"I am trying to make the team here and these (preseason) games are all about that so I've got to go out and show what I can do, but I can't play out of my element," MacLean said. "I have to do what I can do and do it to the best of my ability. Playing with them (Doan and Lombardi) is a great opportunity for me. I have to make the most of it."

Arizona resident David Spina also is the Coyotes lineup tonight at Arena. Spina led the team's top affiliate in points last season and, like MacLean, is looking to make the roster by virtue of strong play in the preseason games.

"My goal tonight is to get into another preseason game," Spina said. "That's how I am approaching this one. I'm going to use every minute I'm out there as an opportunity to get a chance to play again and again and again until it's a regular thing where I'm in the lineup all the time.  To do that, I just have to keep it as simple as possible and use my strongest assets, which are speed and energy."
