Coyotes, NHL Teams Donate Jerseys to NHL.COM Auction For Jukka Nieminen's Family

GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- The Phoenix Coyotes and 27 other NHL teams have donated signed authentic game-worn captains’ jerseys to be auctioned off on beginning Thursday, December 16 and running through Thursday, December 30.

With the support of Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney, Coyotes Equipment Manager Stan Wilson and his counterpart with the Minnesota Wild, Tony DaCosta are organizing the NHL jersey auction to raise funds for the family of Jukka Nieminen. Nieminen was the Coyotes/Winnipeg Jets’ massage therapist from 1993-2010 who passed away on June 11, 2010. Nieminen is survived by his two daughters Alexandra, 12, and Caroline, 7 and all money raised will be directed to their college fund.

The auction features authenticated game-worn captains' jerseys from 27 team captains including Coyotes Captain Shane Doan, Minnesota Wild's Mikko Koivu, Pittsburgh Penguins’ Sidney Crosby, Washington Capitals’ Alexander Ovechkin, Chicago Blackhawks’ Jonathon Toews, Detroit Red Wings’ Nicklas Lidstrom, San Jose Sharks’ Joe Thornton, and a Henrik Lundqvist jersey from the New York Rangers.
