Coyotes Discuss Starting 2011-12 Season

by Staff Writer / Arizona Coyotes
GLENDALE -- The Coyotes begin their 2011-12 season on Saturday night at San Jose. After Thursday's practice, went around the dressing room and gathered quotes from some of the players about what lies ahead.

Here's what they said:

Radim Vrbata: “It’s going to be a tough season once again here in the Western Conference and the Pacific Division, which is pretty hard as you could see the last couple of years. So, it’s not going to be easy but I think the last three weeks during training camp we came together as a team and now we have to show it in the regular season.”

Lauri Korpikoski:
“It’s exciting to get going. The preseason feels pretty long. Everybody, I think, is really happy to get the first game going. We've got a little road trip here to start it off and it’s important we start it off the right way and get our game going from the start.”

Raffi Torres:

“There’s a lot of guys coming together quick, and that’s what you need to win, to be the best. It’s good to come out and have a good start, and obviously the teams that come out and have a good start are the teams that may go a long way, so we’ll try to focus in on that.”

Jason LaBarbera:
“It’s nice to get training camp over with. It feels like it’s dragged on for quite a while. But it’ll be fun to get going again and get in the flow of things, in the groove, and playing for real.”

Keith Yandle:
“This is what we work all summer for… to start the season and get the season going, so everyone is looking forward to that. Today (Thursday) we had a good day of practice and you could just tell everyone is excited that now it’s time to start getting ready for games, time to start getting serious."

Michal Rozsival:
“I think everyone is excited. I know I am, and I can see the vibe in the locker room and it's good. Everybody is excited, everybody is ready to go and I think we had a good training camp. We've got good hockey players here and I think we’ll be ready to go on Saturday.”

Mikkel Boedker
“It’s always tough to start on the road, but it’s the first game for everybody, and I think we had a good camp and we had a good few days up in Prescott and today we got back to work... I think we’re all ready and all excited to get the first one out of the way and get this season started.”
