Coyotes Assign Summers & Pogge to AHL

GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today the Coyotes have assigned defenseman Chris Summers and goaltender Justin Pogge to the Portland Pirates, the Coyotes American Hockey League affiliate (AHL).

The 6-foot-2, 209-pound Summers has appeared in 17 games with the Pirates this season, collecting two assists and 24 penalty minutes. He leads the team with a plus-six rating. Summers has also played in three games with the Coyotes this season.

Summers was drafted by the Coyotes in the first round (29th overall) in the 2006 Entry Draft.

The 6-foot-3, 197 pound Pogge has appeared in seven games with the Pirates this season, posting a record of 3-2-2-0 with a 3.22 goals against average (GAA) and a .891 save percentage (SV%).

In 2010-11, Pogge appeared in 48 games with the Charlotte Checkers (AHL), registering a 22-18-1-4 record with a 3.12 GAA and a .907 SV%.

Pogge was originally drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the third round (90th overall) in the 2004 Entry Draft.
