GLENDALE, ARIZONA – Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have assigned forward Tim Kennedy and defenseman Connor Murphy to the Portland Pirates, the club’s American Hockey League affiliate (AHL).
The 27-year-old Kennedy has recorded 2-6-8 with four penalty minutes (PIM) in 37 games with the Coyotes this season. The 5-foot-10, 175-pound native of Buffalo, N.Y. has also registered 0-2-2 and six PIM in six games with the Pirates. He has totaled 15-24-39 and 60 PIM in 162 career NHL games. Kennedy was originally drafted by the Washington Capitals in the sixth round (181st overall) in the 2005 Entry Draft.
The 20-year-old Murphy has recorded 1-7-8 and 10 PIM in 26 games with the Coyotes in 2013-14. The 6-foot-3, 190-pound native of Boston, Mass. has also registered 0-7-7 and 11 PIM in 18 games with Portland this season. He made his NHL debut and scored his first career goal vs. Tampa Bay on Nov. 16. Murphy was originally drafted by the Coyotes in the first round (20th overall) in the 2011 Entry Draft.
