Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Michael Barnett announced today that the Coyotes have acquired left wing Daniel Carcillo and a 3rd round draft choice in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for right wing Georges Laraque.

 Carcillo, 22, registered 21-9-30 and 183 penalty minutes (PIM) in 52 games played with the American Hockey League's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins this season. His 183 PIM ranks 3rd in the AHL.  In 2005-06, Carcillo recorded 11-13-24 and 311 PIM in 51 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.  Carcillo also registered 3-2-5 and 32 PIM in 6 games with the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL).

 Carcillo was selected by Pittsburgh in the 3rd round (73rd overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.     

 Laraque recorded 5-17-22 and 52 PIM in 56 games with the Coyotes this season, his first in Phoenix. In 546 career games, Laraque has registered 48-85-133 and 878 PIM. The Coyotes signed Laraque as a free agent on July 5, 2006.
