ARLINGTON, Va. – The Washington Capitals weeklong rookie camp concludes Friday, Sept. 11, with a 3 p.m. game against the Philadelphia Flyers’ rookies in Voorhees, N.J., at The Virtua Center Flyers Skate Zone. This is the third straight year that Washington rookies will play Philadelphia rookies prior to training camp. The game is open to the public and free of charge. It will also be streamed online at WashingtonCaps.com for fans who are not able to make it to the game.
Steve Kolbe, the radio voice of the Capitals, will call the game with WashingtonCaps.com senior writer Mike Vogel and Bill Meltzer, who covers the Flyers for hockeybuzz.com. The crew will highlight Philadelphia rookies during the first intermission and Washington rookies during the second intermission, as well as give a brief overview of each team’s camp.
Capitals veterans begin their training camp Sunday, Sept. 13 with on ice practice starting at 10 a.m. The Capitals will play six preseason games with the first game being at 7 p.m. at Buffalo on Thursday, Sept. 17. The team's preseason home opener at Verizon Center is at 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 21, against Buffalo. In addition to playing Buffalo twice, the Caps also have home-and-home series with the Chicago Blackhawks and New York Rangers.
