Spring Puck Surprise Raises More Than $15,000 for Washington Capitals Charities
/ Washington Capitals
The Washington Capitals raised $15,085 through the team’s Spring Puck Surprise, which took place at the Caps game against the Buffalo Sabres on April 3. The fundraiser featured more than 400 pucks that were packaged with Hershey’s Kisses and signed by various Capitals players and sold for $35 each. The pucks went on sale at 6 p.m. when the doors opened to Verizon Center and sold out in 26 minutes.
David Borton, Philip Heyward, Lee King, Heidi Rhodes and Todd Shenk were the Spring Puck Surprise winners. The five winners selected unsigned pucks and therefore got to meet Caps defenseman Brian Pothier. Pothier signed their pucks and took photos with all of the winners.
