by Staff Writer / Washington Capitals
ARLINGTON, Va. - NBC announced today that it has selected the Washington Capitals game against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Sunday, Feb. 22, at Verizon Center, as the NHL’s Game of the Week as part of the NHL’s and NBC’s “flexible scheduling policy.” The matchup, which will be broadcast in high-definition, was originally slated to begin at 3 p.m. but will now start at 12:30 p.m. The game will no longer be shown locally on Comcast SportsNet.

Sunday’s broadcast will be Washington’s eighth nationally televised game of the season, as seven have already been broadcast on Versus. In its fourth season as the network broadcast partner of the NHL, NBC has the option to choose its regular-season Sunday afternoon broadcasts. This is the first Capitals game to be broadcast on NBC this season.
