Hendricks and King Explain the Nuances of Fighting in This Week’s Episode of Caps Red Line

ARLINGTON, Va.Capitals Matt Hendricks and D.J. King explain the nuances of fighting, learn the history behind goalie mask while Semyon Varlamov explains his different masks and experience game-day through the eyes of John Carlson in Episode 4 of Caps Red Line, presented by GEICO. Caps Red Line is back for its third season with Episode 4 on Comcast SportsNet Saturday, Feb. 26, at 9 a.m.

Experience a typical game day through the eyes of the rookie defenseman John Carlson. Caps Red Line is following Carlson on and off the ice throughout his first full season in the NHL.

Take a ride with Jeff Schultz, as he talks about playing in Washington, D.C. The 24-year-old defenseman has played 299 games with the Capitals registering 64 points (nine goals, 55 assists) and a +80 rating. Last season Schultz recorded a +50 rating to lead the NHL and becoming the first NHL defenseman to record a plus/minus rating of +50 or better since Chris Pronger, who was +52 in his Hart Trophy-winning season of 1999-00.

Go behind the scenes of goaltendering. Goalies didn’t wear masks on a regular basis until 1959. A mask is a big part of the goaltender’s identity and goaltenders have been decorating them since the 1970s. Watch as Caps goalie Semyon Varlamov talks about the stories behind his different masks.
