This camp has been a great experience for myself. I definitely know what I have to improve on now, and know what I have to do to get better and make it to the next level. All around, it was a great experience and I loved it.
I met a bunch of new guys on this trip. Especially the [Western Hockey League] guys, I hadn’t met them yet and now I’ve met all the ones that were at camp this week. It was nice meeting some new American hockey players that I hadn’t met yet, either. Even Andre [Burakovsky], the Swede [first-round Capitals] draft pick, I was finally able to meet him. Meeting new guys and seeing new faces is always good, so that was a great part of this week.
I think the Red Team came out pretty well today. We had a really good start, had a little bit of a slow second, but I think the third was really good, finishing off strong and that’s how we won the game. I think it was an all-around great game by the team.
For the rest of the summer, I’m going to be training really hard, on and off the ice, up in Winnipeg. I’m coming to the Capitals Rookie camp in September, and hopefully I can have a good showing there. That’s really all I’m going to be doing – training and having a little bit of down time.
I’m getting out of here right away – actually I have to catch the bus for the airport at 1:30 p.m., so I’ll be out of here pretty soon.
