Convention Update: Olie Returns

by Staff Writer / Washington Capitals
Olie Kolzig – the best goaltender in Capitals history – has confirmed his attendance at the second annual Capitals Convention presented by GEICO on Saturday, Oct. 2 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. Kolzig will be among the Caps alumni in attendance, also including Peter Bondra, Hall of Famer Rod Langway, Dennis Maruk and Ryan Walter. Fewer than 1,000 autograph tickets remain for the all-day event, so get yours today if you want to meet your favorite former Caps players, along with the entire 2010-11 team.

Kolzig, who holds 19 Capitals goaltending records, played in Washington from 1989-2008, compiling 301 victories and winning the 2000 Vezina Trophy. Olie the Goalie returned to Washington, D.C., for one game as a member of the Tampa Bay Lightning, but this will mark his first visit since retiring from the NHL after the 2008-09 season.

This year’s convention will also feature the unveiling of the 2011 Winter Classic uniforms and will be the first opportunity to purchase Winter Classic merchandise. There will be panel discussions with fans getting a behind-the-scenes look at the day-to-day operations of a hockey team and insights into the lives of the 2010-11 Washington Capitals.

The Convention Center is located in front of the Mt. Vernon Square/7th Street Convention Center stop with access to the Green and Yellow lines. Click on to buy tickets today before they are sold out. MORE
