Capitals and Area Youth Hockey Working Together to Help Hurricane Relief Efforts

The 2005-06 hockey season is underway and while many things will happen on and off the ice, one thing that will not be forgotten by anyone is the devastation that has been endured by the Gulf Coast .

The Washington Capitals organization is joining forces with the area youth hockey community to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina. A patch is now available to sew on players' jerseys and coaches' warm-ups for the 2005-06 season. The patch will display a black and red ribbon symbolizing the consideration of the people affected by this natural disaster. All proceeds from the patches will benefit the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE:
CBHL Teams (Travel, House, Rec) – Each coach should get a patch order for his/her team's patches can be obtained for a minimum donation of $10 or two for $15 for teams with home and road jerseys.  Total number of patches and complete team donation should be sent to the club president who will then forward to the Capitals.

MSHL/NVSHL Teams (All levels)Each coach should submit a patch order for his/her team - patches can be obtained for a minimum donation of $10 or two for $15 for teams with home and road jerseys.  Total number of patches and complete team donation should be sent to the head of all hockey programs for the school who will then forward to the Capitals.

Not involved in youth hockey?
While the Caps have partnered with area youth hockey on this initiative, anyone is able to support this cause and purchase a patch. Simply fill out the order form and turn it in directly to the Capitals. Or look for the patches at the community relations table behind section 104 during home Caps games. Note that supplies are limited, so act fast and help support the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.
