WASHINGTON, D.C. November 3, 2005 The Washington Capitals have recalled left wing Tomas Fleischmann and defenseman Nolan Yonkman from Hershey of the American Hockey League (AHL), vice president and general manager George McPhee announced.
Yonkman, 24, returns to the Capitals after playing three of the team’s first eight games. The 6’6”, 247-pound Punnichy, Saskatchewan, native was assigned to Hershey Oct. 22 for conditioning and has played six games for the Bears, recording 15 penalty minutes.
Fleischmann, 21, is tied for 10th in the AHL in scoring with 13 points (four goals, nine assists) in 10 games. He has at least a point in each of the last nine games after being held scoreless in the season opener and has led the Bears to a 5-3-0-3 record, good for second place in the AHL’s East Division. A Koprivinice, Czech Republic, native, who twice represented his home country in the World Junior Championship, Fleischmann is poised to make his NHL debut. The Capitals acquired Fleischmann on Feb. 27, 2004, from Detroit along with two draft picks for Robert Lang.
