WASHINGTON, D.C. - November 9, 2006 – The Washington Capitals have recalled defenseman John Erskine from the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL), vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today.
Erskine, 26, began the season with the Capitals but did not appear in a game before being assigned to Hershey Oct. 18. Since then he has played four games for the Bears, recording two assists, nine penalty minutes and a +2 rating.
A seventh-year professional from Kingston, Ontario, the 6-4, 216-pound Erskine has played 141 games in the NHL with Dallas and the New York Islanders. He will be available for tonight’s game at the Carolina Hurricanes (7 p.m., Comcast Sportsnet, SportsTalk 980/XM 208).
