The Washington Capitals recently held their second-annual Amazing Auction, which included many fantastic prizes where the winners were able to share their experiences with their favorite Caps players.
Some of the live auction packages that fans placed bids on included a bowling party at Lucky Strike with Matt Bradley, Steve Eminger, Brooks Laich
and Brian Sutherby; two floor seat tickets to watch a Washington Wizards game with Alex Ovechkin
and Donald Brashear; dinner for two at Landini Brothers with Matt and Chelsea Pettinger; 10 lower bowl tickets to a Caps game with a postgame meet-and-greet with Ovechkin and Alexander Semin
; and a Spanish wine dinner with Brent Johnson and Danielle Ence.
The auction winners have all collected their awards and the feedback has been unanimous, they all had a memorable experience with the Caps players.
Kimberly Eickholt enjoyed hanging out with Bradley, Eminger, Laich, Sutherby and her family at Lucky Strike, and she had even more fun beating some of the Caps players at bowling (we won’t name names). Preston Calvert enjoyed the VIP treatment as he watched the Wizards beat the 76ers from floor seats at Verizon Center with Brashear and Ovechkin. Caps owner Ted Leonsis even stopped by (he donated the seats) to say hi. Amy May was thrilled to enjoy a Spanish wine dinner at Taberna del Alabardero with not only Johnson and his fiancée, but also Eduardo Garcia who has been named the best young winemaker in Spain. Finally, Char and Howard Silberstein loved spending the evening with the Pettingers at Landini Brothers, a local favorite among the Caps players.
The Amazing Auction was held March 18, 2007 and raised $63,155 for charity. The most successful portion of the event was the live auction, which raised $23,800.
Make sure to keep an eye out for the 2008 Amazing Auction, where you could win an experience with one of you favorite Caps player.
