That wasn't the homecoming the Canucks were hoping for.
Vancouver dropped a 4-2 decision to the Phoenix Coyotes Tuesday night at Rogers Arena in the first game of a brief two-game homestand following a four-game road trip.
The Coyotes struck first opening the scoring with just over six minutes remaining in the opening frame and Phoenix doubled its lead midway through the second before Jason Garrison, owner of a thunderous point shot, finally got the best of tender Mike Smith with his third goal of the season.
Trailing 2-1 in the third, the Canucks fell behind 3-1 at the 12:32 mark and looked to be cooked. Henrik Sedin's third goal of the season, a tip-in off a shot from Daniel, made it a one-goal game, but that's as close as Vancouver got allowing an empty netter with 23 seconds to play.
The Canucks have three days off to prepare for a match up with the LA Kings Saturday night.
AND ANOTHER THING...
Game #282 of the season already? Time flies when you're having fun!
Tweet of the Night - "CHANNING MY TATUM WHAT A SHOT!!!!!" - @canucksgame. I'm not sure if I should apologize or offer up a high-five for this tweet. No idea where it came from, but Jimmy Fallon rules.
Iron Man - Move over Tony Stark, Henrik Sedin is here. The Canucks captain appeared in his 600th consecutive game against the Coyotes; he ranks seventh in NHL history for longest ironman streaks.
The House That Heaven Built - Based on your vote, Project NU2 was won by the Japandroids, who had their hit The House That Heaven Built played as the Canucks hit the ice. More details about how Project NU2 went down will be up first thing Wednesday morning on Canucks.com.
