I get along with pretty much everybody. I’ve got four kids (I'm the second oldest) in my family so I learn to cope with everything and not be too fussy. I’m pretty easygoing, not too much fazes me. What is the most embarrassing thing that’s happened to you on the ice?
I’d have to say the peewee Bell Challenge All-Star game, where I was supposed to do two events.
The first event was a skating one and I forgot to turn backwards so I was disqualified for that one. The next one I had to do was the fastest skater and there were pylons all around the ice and I went inside the first pylon so I was disqualified in that one too. I was disqualified two times in one All-Star game – won’t let that happen again.
I did get to participate in another All-Star game but luckily I wasn't chosen in those events so I didn't have a repeat of that. Who’s your favourite movie villain?
I’d say Shooter McGavin – definitely him from Happy Gilmore. What is the story behind your number?
The number I wore in junior was 19 and I’ve always worn that number because of Steve Yzerman and Joe Sakic – my heroes growing up. What is the best sign you’ve seen at a game?
I’d say in Detroit there was one that said “This is Stevie’s house” and I’ve always loved him growing up so that was my favourite sign. A sporting event I wish I was there for...
The 2002 winter Olympics, when the men’s and women’s hockey teams both won gold in Salt Lake City. What is your favourite thing about your hometown?
My favourite thing about my hometown is just being around friends and family – that’s the biggest thing because when you go back there, you’re always welcome. What was your first hockey team?
My first team was the Haliburton Huskies when I was four years old.
Looking back on it now, I never realized I used to use such a big stick. I remember the stick was like holding on to a piece of lumber because I always used the senior sticks so it looks kind of funny in my pictures.
I think I ended up doing that because I just used whatever my dad used so I would just cut it down and use that. If not hockey, then...
Still something in hockey. Growing up, I’ve always been surrounded by everything hockey so maybe a coach or an agent or something like that.
