Reports to: Assistant Controller, Arena
Term: Effective October 2010 – March 31, 2011

SUMMARY: The Accountant will work closely with the Assistant Controller, Arena on the financial work involved with projects of the Canucks Sports & Entertainment (“CSE”) Finance Department.

(other duties may be assigned as required)

  • Review and/or prepare accounting source documents and reports including account reconciliations, journal entries, allocations, invoices and cheques
  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements for Vancouver Canucks Limited Partnership, including detailed variance analysis
  • Assist in the preparation and monthly monitoring of the annual budget including variance analysis, monthly forecasting and monthly reporting of same to department heads
  • Maintain balance sheet reconciliations for Arena, Hockey and Canuck Card as assigned
  • Reconcile inter-company accounts for all companies
  • Assist with Vancouver Arena Limited Partnership accounting as assigned
  • Prepare and file HST and non-resident withholding taxes for all companies as required
  • Provide support to accounts payable and accounts receivable as required
  • Assist with Canuck season ticket renewal and playoff ticketing as required
  • Assist in financial matters related to other companies within the CSE group of companies as required, including reconciliations and special projects
  • Other accounting related duties as assigned

  • 2 to 3 years general accounting with experience in preparing financial statements and account analysis
  • Enrollment in a recognized accounting program (i.e. CGA, CMA – 3rd level) preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel, MS Word, Outlook, and accounting systems
  • Knowledge of Sun Systems an asset
  • Must be highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Speed and accuracy in data entry
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to effectively communicate financial results to various members of the CSE management team
  • Must be a team player with a strong customer service focus
