Higgins, Smyl to run for Special Olympics BC

Vancouver, British Columbia – Vancouver Canucks forward Chris Higgins, alumnus and current Sr. Advisor to the General Manager Stan Smyl, and Canucks mascot FIN will run one kilometre of the 2013 Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics BC, joining the Granville Kilometre within the Torch Run Vancouver leg. Their portion of the run will commence at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 5th at the corner of Granville and Georgia, finishing at Granville and Drake.

Media are invited for photo opportunities with Higgins, Smyl and FIN at the finish line at Granville and Drake.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run takes place province wide and features law enforcement personnel carrying the message of respect and dignity as well as raising funds in support of Special Olympics athletes.

The Torch Run starts Tuesday, June 4, with the beginning of the four-day Lower Mainland Torch Run and the run in Trail, and continues with events throughout the province on and around Torch Run Day, June 7.
