Vancouver, B.C. – Canucks Sports & Entertainment, together with Rogers Communications Inc. (Rogers), announced today that they will unveil the ‘Canucks Hall of Heroes powered by Rogers’ at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 11th. The ‘Canucks Hall of Heroes’ is an interactive exhibit that adds to the ultimate fan experience at Rogers Arena, while acting as an extension of the in-arena honour bestowed upon the only three players to have their numbers retired in Canucks history. Canucks heroes Markus Naslund, Trevor Linden and Stan Smyl will be in attendance and available for a photo opportunity during the unveiling of ‘Canucks Hall of Heroes' - Saturday, December 10th at 10:00 am. (Media should meet at the Norm Jewison Media Room at 9:45 am.)
The ‘Canucks Hall of Heroes’ will be located in Section 316 and is one of two historically based exhibits to be installed at Rogers Arena. Through multimedia innovation, the exhibit captures the greatest moments, highlights and community work throughout the careers of Smyl, Linden and Naslund. Exclusive and authentic memorabilia from the three featured Canucks heroes will be included in the exhibit courtesy of contributions from the players and their families.
“We are thrilled to share this new exhibit with our loyal fans. Innovative technology combined with memorabilia from our Canucks heroes will enhance the fan experience for our guests at Rogers Arena,” said Chief Operating Officer and and Alternate Governor, Canucks Sports & Entertainment, Victor de Bonis. “This enhanced technology in the ‘Hall of Heroes’ connects fans to their Canucks heroes and allows them to engage in reliving key moments in our history.”
The ‘Canucks Hall of Heroes’ contains a seven-foot, high definition screen and interactive touch screens that highlight the careers of the greatest players to wear a Canucks sweater. Rogers customers will also be able to enjoy the content from the exhibits on their mobile devices through an exclusive section within the ‘Canucks App powered by Rogers’. The app is expected to launch in the next few weeks.
"Our goal is to give fans and our customers innovative new ways to connect with their team inside Rogers Arena and on the go. The ‘Hall of Heroes’ is a fantastic new addition to Rogers Arena and the Canucks experience and we think fans are really going to have fun with it," said Rogers Vice-President for BC, Gord Nelson.
The second exhibit, ‘Forever Canucks, powered by Rogers’, will be available in the New Year. Located in Section 121 at Rogers Arena, it will allow fans to relive their favourite Canucks memories. Fans will have the opportunity to select favourite moments they would like included in the exhibit by voting on Canucks.com. More information on this second exhibit will be made available at a later date.
