Canucks Claim Defenseman Mike Weaver Off Waivers

Vancouver, B.C. - Vancouver Canucks Senior Vice-President and General Manager Dave Nonis announced today that the Canucks have claimed defenceman, Mike Weaver off of waivers. Weaver, 29, joins the Canucks from the Los Angeles Kings where he played 39 games, scoring nine points (3-6-9) with 16 penalty minutes in the 2006-07 season.

Weaver played an additional seven games with the Manchester Monarchs of the AHL recording four points (1-3-4) and two penalty minutes that season. Over a five-year NHL career, Weaver has played a total of 149 games and recorded 24 points (3-21-24) and 60 penalty minutes.

The 5’9””, 182 lbs. native of Bramalea, Ontario originally signed with the Atlanta Thrashers as a free agent on June 15, 2000.
