Vancouver, BC - As part of a season-long Rogers Arena #20in20 celebration, the Vancouver Canucks announced further details today of their Saturday, February 13th game versus the Toronto Maple Leafs. Players will wear the original flying skate uniforms worn during the team’s first season at Rogers Arena in 1995. Fans are encouraged to wear their favourite skate jerseys and apparel when the puck drops for this special 4:00 p.m. game time.

Highlights of the game include:

-A ceremonial face-off featuring players from 1995.96 including Trevor Linden, Kirk McLean, Jyrki Lumme, Gino Odjick, Dave Babych, and Cliff Ronning

-In-game storytelling about the first Canucks team to play at Rogers Arena

-A commemorative magazine for every fan in attendance

-A performance by Vancouver-based dance band, Dr. Strangelove, as well as an all-new tribute movie produced by Johnny Canuck highlights the game entertainment line-up

-Limited edition Authentic Reebok flying skate jerseys available at the main Team Store; CCM Replica flying skate jerseys as well as flying skate branded pucks, hats, t-shirts, and sweatshirts are also now available at all Team Store locations

“I'll always remember our first season at the new arena. Fans were really excited, and so was the team,” said Canucks President of Hockey Operations Trevor Linden. “Seeing the black flying skate uniforms again at Rogers Arena again is going to be exciting and serves as a perfect tribute to our first season in this great venue."

The first regular season game at Rogers Arena took place on October 9, 1995 when the Canucks faced the Detroit Red Wings. The 1995.96 team finished with a 32-35-15 record and was led in scoring by Alex Mogilny (55-52-107) and Captain Trevor Linden (33-47-80). It also marked Markus Naslund’s first year in Vancouver after he was acquired in a mid-season trade with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
