Canucks announce 2016-17 schedule

VANCOUVER, B.C., — The Vancouver Canucks, in conjunction with the National Hockey League, released their 2016.17 regular season and pre-season schedules today. The Canucks open the regular season with back-to-back home games against division rival Calgary on Saturday, October 15th, followed by a visit from the Carolina Hurricanes the next night.

The 2016.17 NHL season marks the fourth year of a league-wide, four-division format which sees every team visit Rogers Arena at least once. The Canucks schedule features 29 games against Pacific Division opponents, 21 games against remaining Western Conference teams and another 32 games against Eastern Conference clubs.

Marquee match-ups highlighting the Canucks schedule at Rogers Arena this season include the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday, December 3rd, the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday, March 7th, and the defending Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday, March 11th. The busiest night of the week is Saturday with 19 games, followed closely by Tuesday and Thursday when 17 games are scheduled each night in 2016.17.

The Canucks will play 16 back-to-back series in 2016.17 with nine taking place on the road, three at home, and four home/road back-to-back splits. The Canucks will make 13 road trips and host 13 home stands. Vancouver’s longest road trip consists of six away games from November 2nd to 10th and again from February 7th to 16th. The Canucks longest home stand ranges five games from March 7th to March 16th.

The Canucks will play seven pre-season games. They will play four games at Rogers Arena, playing host to Edmonton (September 28th), San Jose (October 2nd), Arizona (October 3rd), and Calgary (October 6th). The Canucks hit the road for games in San Jose (September 27th), Calgary (September 30th), and Edmonton (October 8th).
