Vancouver, B.C. - Vancouver Canucks Senior Vice-President and General Manager Dave Nonis announced today that centre Ryan Shannon has been acquired from the Anaheim Ducks as well as a conditional pick in exchange for Jason King and a conditional draft pick.
Shannon, 23, split the 2006-07 season between the Anaheim Ducks and Portland Pirates of the AHL. In 53 games with Anaheim the 5?9?, 178-pound centre recorded 11 points (2-9-11) and ten penalty minutes. Shannon had nine points (2-7-9) and 12 penalty minutes in 14 games with Portland last season. The Boston College alumni also made 11 post season appearances with the 2007 Stanley Cup Champion Anaheim Ducks.
The Darien, CT native was named to the AHL All-Rookie Team in 2005-06. Shannon was signed as a free agent by Anaheim in 2006.
