Training Camp - Day 3

by Staff Writer / Montréal Canadiens

The Canadiens were back in Brossard on Saturday for an early morning skate followed by the second of three scrimmages scheduled at the Bell Sports Complex during the Habs’ main camp.

Newcomer P.A. Parenteau opened the scoring for Team Red just 36 seconds into the opening frame, burying a pass from linemate David Desharnais behind Dustin Tokarski. Another first-year Hab, Manny Malhotra, then doubled Team Red’s lead on a pretty one-timer from Dale Weise to make it 2-0 after the first half.

Team Red goaltender Zachary Fucale was perfect in his first scrimmage of camp, pushing aside all 10 shots that came his way, while Tokarski for his part stopped seven of nine shots during his time on the ice.

A pair of penalty shots got Team White on the board in the second half, as Michael Bournival and Sven Andrighetto both cashed in their breakaway chances on Carey Price, who blocked five of seven shots on the morning. But strong play from the Max Pacioretty line was the difference on Saturday, with Parenteau and Desharnais beating Budaj twice in the final 25 minutes to give Team Red the 4-2 win.

The Canadiens’ final scrimmage in Brossard is set for Sunday morning at 11:00 a.m. EST and will also be streamed live at
