Training Camp - Day 2

by Staff Writer / Montréal Canadiens

The Canadiens hit the ice at the Bell Sports Complex on Friday morning. Players were divided into three separate groups – Team A, B and C.

Team A (Red) and Team B (White) went head-to-head in a scrimmage in front of hundreds of fans in Brossard.

Those in attendance certainly got their money’s worth, even if admission was free. Four goals were scored in the first period. Invitee Drayson Bowman opened the scoring for Team White, before Max Pacioretty tied things up with a goal on Peter Budaj seconds later. Then, Tomas Plekanec lit the lamp for Team White, before Francis Bouillon got on the scoresheet for Team Red. The two teams headed to the dressing room with the score tied 2-2.

Both teams got off to a quick start in the second period when Gabriel Dumont put Team B up 3-2 with a tally on Joey MacDonald. For his part, Dustin Tokarski stood tall in goal for Team B, turning aside multiple scoring opportunities, including a penalty shot attempt from Christian Thomas. Lars Eller got the best of Tokarski later in the period, however, beating the young netminder with a powerful shot from the slot to cap the scoring as the tilt ended 3-3.

The next scrimmage will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. EST. It will be streamed live on
