The Numbers Game – November 2, 2013

by Staff Writer / Montréal Canadiens

DENVER - Here's a numerical look at the Habs-Avalanche game at the Pepsi Center on Saturday night.

308 – Number of career points amassed by defenseman Adam Foote over the course of his 19-year NHL career, the first of which came against the Canadiens on Nov. 21, 1991 when the Toronto, ON native was a member of the Quebec Nordiques. Foote’s number 52 was raised to the rafters by the Avalanche prior to the tilt against the Canadiens on Saturday night.

119 – Number of career NHL games Peter Budaj has contested at the Pepsi Center, with Saturday night’s tilt marking the first time that the Slovakian netminder will defend the visiting goal at the Denver-based facility.

3,984 – Number of days that have elapsed since the last time newly minted Avalanche head coach Patrick Roy went up against the Canadiens on Dec. 6, 2002 at the Pepsi Center. That night, Roy registered a 7-6 overtime victory in goal for Colorado.

2 – Number of fights that broke out before the game was five minutes old on Saturday night as Ryan White dropped the gloves with Cody McLeod before George Parros went one-on-one with Patrick Bordeleau just over two minutes later.

9 – Number of goals that both the Canadiens and Avalanche have allowed in the first period combined thus far this season. Both teams didn’t stray from that routine in the opening frame as the two clubs headed to the locker room in a scoreless tie.

128:46 – Time, in minutes, that Canadiens goaltender Peter Budaj blanked the opposition before conceding a goal to Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog just over 11 minutes into the second period. Budaj last gave up a goal during his first start of the year back on Oct. 10 in a win over Edmonton. That marker came during the second period.

20:13 – Ice time, in minutes, logged by Max Pacioretty on Saturday night against the Avalanche. Pacioretty returned to active duty after being sidelined for the last eight games due to injury.

4 – Number of Canadiens players who’ve hit the 10-point plateau thus far this season as Brendan Gallagher joined P.K. Subban, Tomas Plekanec and Alex Galchenyuk with that tally by scoring his seventh goal of the year to start the third period.
