MONTREAL – The offseason might be well underway, but there’s still every reason to keep talking hockey.
The Canadiens’ preseason schedule for the 2015-16 campaign is now available, and it features several noteworthy games that you should circle on your calendars.
Michel Therrien’s troops will play seven preseason games in a span of 12 days in order to narrow down their roster ahead of a brand new season. The first game is scheduled for September 22 against the Toronto Maple Leafs at the Bell Centre. It will mark Mike Babcock’s first visit to Montreal as the Leafs’ new bench boss.
Two days later, the Canadiens will begin a set of three games in as many nights. The first two games will be played at the Bell Centre. The Canadiens will battle the Washington Capitals on September 24 before taking on the reigning Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks on September 25. Then, the CH will travel to Toronto to wrap up the tough stretch at the Air Canada Centre.
On September 28, the Canadiens will battle the Pittsburgh Penguins in their annual preseason visit to Quebec City. The tilt will mark the inaugural NHL game at the brand new Videotron Centre.
Fans will then be privy to a home-and-home series between the Canadiens and the Senators to close out the preseason schedule. Ottawa will visit Montreal on October 1, while the Canadiens will visit their Atlantic Division rivals on October 3.
And, for those looking to catch many of the Canadiens’ current players and several hopefuls in action, be sure to keep September 20 open. That’s when the Red vs. White scrimmage will be played at the Bell Centre.
