Olympic recap - February 14

by Staff Writer / Montréal Canadiens

Tomas Plekanec led Czech forwards in ice time for the second straight game and added one assist as his side cruised to a 4-2 victory over the Latvian team.

The Czechs, who outshot their opponents 39-20, got goals from Martin Erat, Jaromir Jagr, Jakub Voracek and Marek Zidlicky. Ondrej Pavelec made 18 saves in the win.

Latvia drops to 0-2 in the round-robin, while the Czech Republic moves to 1-1 after losing against the Swedes in their opener. The Czechs will wrap up their round-robin with a game against the Swiss on Saturday.

Team Canada powered to a 6-0 win over Team Austria thanks in part to a second-period hat trick from Jeff Carter.

P.K. Subban played solidly in his Olympic debut, amassing 11:41 of ice time. Fellow Hab Carey Price got the day off and did not dress following his 3-1 win against Norway yesterday.

Canada will attempt to go undefeated in the round-robin when they take on the Finns on Sunday morning.
