by Staff Writer / Montréal Canadiens

MONTREAL -- Centreman Robert Lang is the Molson Cup Player of the Month for January. Lang, acquired from the Chicago Blackhawks last September, wins the Molson Cup for the first time of his career.

Lang registered 12 points in Molson Cup standings in January after being voted first star of the game once and earning two second-star selections and one third-star selection. Lang finished ahead of teammates Andrei Markov (10 points) and Andrei Kostitsyn (8 points).

Lang recorded 13 points (6 goals and 7 assists) in as many games in January. He registered a hat trick in a 6-3 win over the Rangers on January 7 at Madison Square Garden. During the month, the Czech Republic native also netted three power-play goals and added one short-handed marker.

Lang will be presented with the Molson Cup during a pre-game ceremony prior to today’s game against the Boston Bruins, at the Bell Centre.
