Halak earns Molson Cup for January/February

MONTREAL – Jaroslav Halak is the Molson Cup Player of the Month for the January/February segment. Halak is the recipient of the award for the second consecutive segment of the 2009-10 season as he was named the Molson Cup Player of the Month for December.

Halak collected 25 points in the Molson Cup standings for January and February by virtue of three first-star selections, three second-star selections and one third-star selection. Halak finished ahead of teammate Brian Gionta, who earned 11 points.

Halak posted a 6-4-0 record in 12 games in January and February, with a 2.45 goals against average. He also stopped 360 of the 389 shots he faced for a .925 save percentage. Halak allowed only eight goals during his six wins, including two shutouts on January 7 against Florida (2-0) and on January 23 against the New York Rangers (6-0). He also stopped 45 shots in each of his two wins against Vancouver on February 2 (3-2) and against Boston on February 4 (3-2).

Jaroslav Halak leads the overall standings of the Molson Cup with 48 points, ahead of teammates Carey Price (41 points) and Tomas Plekanec (40 points).

Halak will be presented with the Molson Cup during a pre-game ceremony prior to the game on, Tuesday, March 9 against the Tampa Bay Lightning at the Bell Centre.
