Day 6: World Hockey Championship

by Staff Writer / Montréal Canadiens

Switzerland vs. Latvia

With the score deadlocked at 3-3 in the third period of Wednesday's matchup between Switzerland and Latvia, Swiss sniper Sven Andrighetto scooped up the puck in the left faceoff circle and unloaded a hard wrist-shot to light the lamp and post his third point (1G, 2A) of the game. Though Latvia would go on to even the score 4-4, Switzerland stole the game with a goal in the final moments of the third period.

Slovakia vs. Belarus

Slovakia opened the scoring on Wednesday morning thanks to a power-play marker off the stick off Andrej Sekera that was set up on the man advantage by forward Martin Reway. Belarus, however, would score four unanswered goals in the third period to earn a 4-2 come-from-behind victory.
