MONTREAL - Canadiens GM Bob Gainey announced Monday the signing of forward Alexander Perezhogin to a one-year contract (2006-07). As per club policy, financial terms of the deal are not disclosed.
Perezhogin, 22, completed the 2005-06 season, his first in the NHL, with a total of 19 points (nine goals, 10 assists), 38 penalty minutes and a plus-5 rating in 67 games with the Canadiens. The 6-foot, 205-pound right winger also collected two assists in 11 games with the Hamilton Bulldogs in the American Hockey League.
Perezhogin, a native of Ust-Kamenogorsk, Kazakhstan, was the Canadiens' second first round selection, 25th overall, in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
