- The Canadiens skated at CONSOL Enery Center on Wednesday morning ahead of their 7 p.m. matchup with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Rene Bourque practiced alongside Brian Gionta and Tomas Plekanec for several drills during the morning skate.

- Michael Ryder will not be in the lineup for Wednesday night's game against the Penguins due to an upper-body injury. He is listed as day-to-day.

- Michel Therrien confirmed that defenseman Yannick Weber will be back in the lineup on Wednesday night. Weber will participate in his third game of the season for the Canadiens.

- Therrien also indicated that he has yet to decide whether Gabriel Dumont or Michael Blunden will be inserted in the lineup to replace Ryan White, who has been suspended for five games for an illegal check to the head of Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Kent Huskins earlier in the week at the Bell Centre.

- Peter Budaj will make his ninth start of the season in goal on Wednesday night for the Canadiens.
