Andrei Markov finds himself on a list of the first 16 players named to the Russian contingent that will hit the ice at the World Cup of Hockey in September. The initial list was revealed on Wednesday.
Markov represented Russia during the Winter Olympics in Sochi, picking up two points in five games. He’ll try to add to his already impressive international hockey resume that includes a gold medal at the World Hockey Championship in 2008, a silver medal at the World Junior Hockey Championship in 1998, and bronze medals at the World Hockey Championship in 2005 and 2007 and the 1998 World Junior Hockey Championship, too.
The veteran defenseman will be participating in the World Cup of Hockey for a second time, having previously suited up in the event the last time it was staged in 2004.
