With Development Camp on the Horizon, #ProspectTBT Winds Down

BostonBruins.com
– For the last two months, we have taken a trip down memory lane each Thursday as part of our #ProspectTBT series.

The weekly reflections (which can be found here) have featured current Bruins who have grown up through the organization’s system. The players looked back on key markers like the NHL Draft and Development Camp.

Many pointed to Development Camp as an integral piece to their progression.

“As a European player it was the first real experience of North American hockey and the style of working out, and hockey on and off the ice,” said Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask.

“I never really experienced anything like it. It was in the middle of the summer, I was not in my best shape – you can ask [Strength and Conditioning] Coach [John] Whitesides.

“It was an eye-opening experience, for sure, to see a lot of guys competing for the jobs. Everybody was in top shape and you know how much work you have to put into it in order to stand a chance.”

Rask attended the inaugural Development Camp in 2007, as did David Krejci, Adam McQuaid and Brad Marchand. Tyler Randell (2009, 2010), Ryan Spooner (2010-12), Torey Krug (2012), Joe Morrow (2013), David Pastrnak (2014), Noel Acciari (2015), and Frank Vatrano (2015) also participated.

This year’s Development Camp – the 10th annual – runs from July 12-15 at Ristuccia Arena in Wilmington. All on-ice sessions are open to the public.

This year’s participants include forwards Jack Becker, Anders Bjork, Jake DeBrusk, Ryan Donato, Ryan Fitzgerald, Trent Frederic, Jesse Gabrielle, Danton Heinen, Cameron Hughes, Joona Koppanen, Sean Kuraly, Mark Naclerio, and Oskar Steen.

The defensemen are Brandon Carlo, Cam Clarke, Matt Grzelcyk, Emil Johansson, Jeremy Lauzon, Ryan Lindgren, Charlie McAvoy, Wiley Sherman, and Jakub Zboril.

Goaltenders attending are Stephen Dhillon (on an invite basis), Zane McIntyre, Malcolm Subban, and Daniel Vladar.
